In 2002, taking her bag off the conveyer belt at the airport in Lana’i and waving goodbye to her folks, Jordanne Weinstein had no idea that she was about to embark on a new path in life. To that point, her experience included a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, a year studying in Florence with Silvano Campeggi (creator of movie posters such as Gigi, Casablanca, and Gone With The Wind), work in the New York design firm of Milton Glaser, and a stint as head of graphic design for a 50-plus restaurant chain in Florida.

“I wasn’t happy with my 9-5 design job," said Weinstein. "So I decided to stay in Lana’i and create a new life! The beautiful landscapes and soothing pace of Lana’i life has allowed me the opportunity for my dream of being a painter to come true." Lana’i’s Artist-In-Residence for eight years, she is the owner of Jordanne Fine Art Studio/Gallery in Lana’i City.
After a year of painting every street, house, and vista on the island, Jordanne began to show her work at the two Four Seasons Resorts. She is now both a gallery owner and self-sustained artist on this island of just 3,000.

Three Tin Roofs
Two years ago Jordanne saved a historic 1930's gas station from being torn down by renovating the inside for her Studio/Gallery, and then painting a building wide mural that depicts an artist's journey from Lanai’i City, through the old pineapple fields to the ocean at Manele Bay. The Studio/Gallery is a working artist studio and is a must-see cultural experience.
Jordanne paints, produces cards and matted prints. And she sells her book, filled with charming stories of equally charming paintings, in her gallery shop. When not in her Studio/Gallery or painting on location, she can be found at Lana’i At Manele Bay on Tuesdays & Fridays from 8:30am-3:30 pm and The Lodge At Koele on Wednesdays from 8:30am-3:30pm.
