Family Fun at the Hawaii State Farm Fair July 24-25 at the Bishop Museum

Jam packed with family fun and informative displays, the annual Hawaii State Farm Fair is Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 on the grounds of Bishop Museum.  The fair goes from 9 am to 8 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday.  Additional parking is available at nearby lots, with fair access via a convenient shuttle service.

Sponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, activities includes traditional activities such as 4-H livestock exhibits, agricultural displays, a farmers' market with  island fruit products for sale, and of course fabulous entertainment.  Fair-goers can also visit the tropical plant displays and purchase plants. 

Taste samples of locally sourced and produced products at the Ag-Tastic Expo.  Taste food produced by enterprising farm bureau members from Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. Talk story with the farmers and ranchers who are growing the food we eat. From Kau, meet Michelle Galimba of Kuahiwi Ranch and Will Tabios, whose Rising Sun, 100 percent Kau Coffee took top awards in the recent Specialty Coffee Association of America competition.

In typical Hawaii-style, there will be food-a-plenty, such as juicy grass-fed beef burgers from the North Shore Cattle Company, freshly grilled abalone farmed at the Big Island's Natural Energy Lab. and creamy artisanal butters from Maui's Naked Cow Dairy. Traditional Hawaiian foodies will dig the large variety of local grind such as Kalua Pork, Thai Curry Chicken. Garlic Shrimp and Ginger Mango drinks.

Be sure and have your keiki check out the watermelon eating contest while Dad battles for domination in the corn husking competition.

Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children aged 4-12, and includes entry into the Bishop Museum as well.  Don't forget to check out the new summer historical exhibit "Surfing."
